In 2014, a fellow meditator shared a video clip of “floating” with Mikell. She was so intrigued that she flew to Seattle to try floating for herself. After a week, Mikell decided that she wanted to share her newfound passion with her hometown of St. Louis.
Mikell has always been interested in wellness, from her days in nursing school to her time in pharmaceutical sales. Throughout her career, she has seen many new trends and treatments for healing minds and bodies. She has been a practitioner of many other forms of wellness such as massages, meditation, acupuncture, and other natural forms of healing.
Besides the tranquil environment Buoyant offers, hygiene and design are foremost priorities. Buoyant has the most advanced equipment available today. Our float pod is completely emptied to the last drop of the salt solution between each guest, where it is pumped through a sophisticated 4-step cleaning and filtration system that is unique in St. Louis. This allows an associate to wipe out the pod before it fills up again. While the next guest is getting ready for their float experience, the pod fills back up in front of them.
